About Eric Garber
Dr. Eric Garber is a dedicated Woodland parent, a career educator, and a deeply rooted community advocate running to bring experienced, collaborative leadership to the WJUSD School Board. In 2009, Eric and his wife, Anja, moved to the Spring Lake area of Woodland, where they have loved raising their four daughters. As a family, their weekends are filled with youth soccer games, Girl Scouts, and frequent trips to the library. With all four of their daughters currently attending WJUSD schools, Eric has a deeply personal stake in the success and accountability of our local district.
Now in his 28th year in public education, Eric serves as a school principal in a neighboring district, bringing a practical, front-line perspective that is missing from governance. His extensive career spans foundational roles as a classroom teacher, site administrator, and district curriculum leader. Having earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from UC Davis, Eric uniquely combines a sophisticated, high-level understanding of state and federal education policy with the direct, daily experience of implementing those mandates inside a school building.
Beyond his professional career, Eric has spent the last 14 years actively volunteering and advocating for Woodland schools. He has served on the vital community committees that established Spring Lake Elementary, shaped the district’s Facilities Master Plan, and developed the WJUSD Graduate Profile. Furthermore, his local peers have elected him to chair three separate WJUSD School Site Councils over the last eight years. Blending the sharp insights of a veteran school leader with the unwavering passion of a dedicated parent volunteer, Eric is ready to deliver the structured, responsive representation that Trustee Area 7 families deserve.
